about

A whimsical yet thoughtful meditation on life, death, change, and impermanence.

lyrics

Once in my past life, I think I was a turtle,
Sitting on a log and eating bugs,
The river was my road, the pond was my home,
The trees my decoration, the sun my salvation

I would glide in the water and swim to the bottom,
Dig a whole to rest, sit back and relax
I'm alive...

Once in my past life, I think I was an eagle,
Flowing on the wind looking for food,
The wind was my road, as I scanned the world below,
Watching colors pass, until I found a snack

I would glide on the current, push through the clouds,
The sun above my wings, cast my shadow on the ground
I'm alive...

Once in my past life, I think I was a rock,
Resting in a river, the current flowing past
The earth was my mother, the water carved me down,
From stone into a pebble, pebble into sand,

I would glide with the river, dancing in the rapids,
Swirling out to sea, then resting on a beach
I'm alive...

Once in a past life, I’m sure I was a star,
Somewhere in the heavens, far from where we are,
My light filled up the night, a diamond way up high,
Until one day I burst and shot off through the sky,

I would glide through the darkness, a fiery ball of stardust,
My atoms chasing dreams, turning into countless things
I'm alive...

Somewhere in my body, I can still feel the star
That barrelled through the sky and landed where we are,
Those very atoms that used to light the night,
There in my blood, keeping me alive,
I’m alive...
